‘Fortnite’ Map Vanishes in Season-Ending Event

Written by on October 13, 2019

Fortnite is now a literal void of nothingness.

Season 10 has officially ended, and with it, everything players thought they knew about the game has been erased. The entire game’s original map has been sucked into a black hole, leaving many fans scratching their heads.

“I guess they called it “The End” for a reason,” DrLupo, an avid Fortnite streamer, tweeted alongside video of the event. The event was titled “The End.”

In case you haven’t been keeping up, the Visitor was the primary focus of this season’s event that has everyone talking. The Visitor is an alien that rode a meteor to the Battle Royale island for an event back in 2018. According to Polygon, the Visitor planted a rocket on top of Dusty Depot, an area within the Battle Royale map. The rocket then launched, exploded in the sky and seemingly unleashed other smaller missiles via rifts from the sky.

Shortly afterward, the entire island was sucked into a black hole, one that can still be seen via Fortnite’s official stream.

Some fans are…less than pleased about the way Fortnite decided to end the map.

Now, Fortnite is extremely marketable and it’s unlikely that this is truly the end for the video game. Fans are expecting a new map any minute now, but no one truly knows what’s happening outside of Epic Games.

“Many expect this to serve as the transition to Fortnite Chapter 2, a major update to the game that includes a brand new map and fresh mechanics like boats,” Jon Fingas speculated in Engadget.

Fortnite is one of the most popular games in the world, so it’s unlikely that this is truly the end for the franchise. We’ll have to wait and see.
