Frank Ocean Stars in Prada’s SS20 Menswear Campaign

Frank Ocean is a fan of Prada. And Prada is a fan of Frank Ocean.
The singer-songwriter has shown a lot of support for the Italian fashion house over the past year, not only attending its Spring 2020 menswear show in Shanghai, but also rocking its pieces to the 2019 Met Gala and on the pages of W magazine. This week, Prada took the symbiotic relationship to the next level by unveiling the Spring/Summer 2020 mens campaign starring the Blonde artist.
As you can see, the images combine a black-and-white shot and color shot of Ocean wearing different looks from the Optimist Rhythm collection. The label has turned its logo vertically, turning it into an acronym for abstract thoughts and notions that define “Prada.” Ocean’s definition was “Programming Rhythms and Dancing Again.”
“Prada Spring/Summer 2020 menswear campaign features a trinity of contemporary creatives, pivotal cultural personalities of now and archetypes of the hyper fragmented mindset of tomorrow,” the label explained in a press release. “Each embodies a single identity of the Prada man, one aspect, one outlook, multiplied by each image, each definition … Each of these men uses words to define themselves: the lyrics of a song, the words of a script. They are a blueprint, a template, for life, for living, for feeling. Here, words are used as a means to redefine the image, to attempt to define the indefinable – PRADA.”
The Spring/Summer 2020 menswear campaign also stars Actor Austin Butler and director/screenwriter Nicolas Winding Refn. You can check out other visuals for the campaign, shot by David Sims, below.
Ocean was recently confirmed as one of the headliners for Coachella 2020. This year’s festival will also feature performances by Travis Scott, Rage Against the Machine, Calvin Harris, Megan Thee Stallion, DaBaby, Lana Del Rey, Lil Uzi Vert, and more.
