Fred Savage Fired from ‘Wonder Years’ Reboot After Misconduct Investigation

Written by on May 7, 2022

Fred Savage has been fired as a director and executive producer of The Wonder Years reboot due to allegations of “inappropriate conduct.”

Deadline reports Savage was dismissed this week following multiple complaints of misconduct, which allegedly included both verbal outbursts and inappropriate behavior.

A spokesman for 20th Television confirmed the news in a statement to Deadline on Friday.

“Recently, we were made aware of allegations of inappropriate conduct by Fred Savage, and as is policy, an investigation was launched. Upon its completion, the decision was made to terminate his employment as an executive producer and director of The Wonder Years,” 20th Television said.

Savage, 45, starred in the original Wonder Years from 1988 to 1993. He served as executive producer and director of the reboot, which debuted on ABC last year.

It isn’t the first time Savage has been accused of misconduct. Back in 2018, a female crew member on Savage’s Fox series The Grinder imposed assault and intimidation allegations against Savage, accusing him of attacking and harassing her on set in 2015.

Savage denied the accusations, saying, “These accusations are completely without merit and absolutely untrue. have been working in the entertainment industry my whole life and have always endeavored to treat everyone on any set I work on respectfully and professionally.”

20th Television, which produced the show, conducted an investigation and determined there was no evidence of wrongdoing. The lawsuit was eventually settled in court.
