Freddie Gibbs, who recently told fans he’s currently “making the best music of my life” and has no intention of stopping, has rolled out a new video for the $oul $old $eparately fan-favorite “Zipper Bagz.”
The visual for the Kaytranada-produced track is a co-directorial effort from Freddie, manager Ben “Lambo” Lambert, and Harley Astorga.
The new video arrives one day before Gibbs kicks off a run of California dates including sold-out stops in Santa Ana, Santa Cruz, and Ventura.
Joining Gibbs on select dates is Maxo, who last month unveiled the Even God Has a Sense of Humor album.
$oul $old $eparately arrived via Warner Records back in September, marking Gibbs’ first project to be released through a major label. The album was well-received critically and saw Gibbs enlisting a select group of collaborators including (but not limited to) Offset, Kelly Price, Anderson .Paak, and more. The LP landed on Complex’s ranking of the best albums of the year, coming in at No. 22 between 2022 releases from Che Noir and Harry Styles.
“I’m making the best music of my life, so it’s no reason to stop,” Gibbs told XXL earlier this year when teasing his upcoming plans for more new music.
As for the extent of new music that’s on the horizon, Gibbs confirmed at the time that he was aiming to release four new joint projects, though he was understandably guarded in terms of specific details such as when to expect them or who all is involved.
