French Soccer Player Receives 5-Year Ban for Biting Opponent’s Penis

Written by on February 21, 2020

soccer player in France has been banned for five years for biting another player’s penis during an altercation that occurred following the conclusion of a match, according to Goal.com. The incident happened after an amateur game between SC Terville and AS Soetrich when a dispute broke out in the locker room, and spilled out into the parking lot.

When a Terville player tried to break up the quarrel, the unnamed member of Soetrich bit his…member. The apparent peacemaker was sent to the hospital where he needed 12 stitches, and was forced to miss four days of work. This same victim was also suspended until the end of June by the Moselle district disciplinary committee for what they’re calling “acts of brutality.”

The harshest punishment was given to the guy who did the biting. He was given a five-year ban, and fined 200 euros, or basically $216. His club was handed the same fine for a “lack of reaction from the [club’s] leaders” for allowing the incident to escalate, and were deducted two points.

“The case, being relatively serious, was taken over by a magistrate. He collected testimonies but also investigated in order to trace the facts as faithfully as possible,” Emmanuel Saling, ruling director general of the Mosellan district, told Le Republican Lorrain. “It’s quite rare to have sanctions of several years, there are less than 10 per year. The case was a bit saucy, but … there must have been some nasty tension, so the smiles on the disciplinary committee quickly faded.”
