Future on Ciara and Russell Wilson: ‘He Do Exactly What She Tell Him to Do’

Written by on January 18, 2019

It’s the night Future fans have been waiting for: The Atlanta rapper’s seventh studio album, The WIZRD, just hit streaming services. But before he unleashed the 20-track project, Future appeared on Beats 1 for a candid interview with his longtime friend Big Bank Black.

Not only did he speak about The WIZRD, specifically his reasons for making the album, Future also touched on more personal subjects, such as his family life. One of the highlights of the conversation was when Future shared his thoughts about his former fiancée Ciara and her NFL husband Russell Wilson

It’s no secret that Future and Ciara have had a tumultuous relationship over the past several years. The ex-couple have taken shots at each other on social media, in the press, and even in court, as they attempted to resolve a custody battle over their 4-year-old son.

Future claimed Ciara introduced his kid to Wilson before he allowed Wilson and Future to meet. When asked what he thought about Ciara’s husband, Future claimed Wilson was being controlled: “He do exactly what she tell him to do.”

Future said Wilson should be a “man” and forbid Ciara from even mentioning his name in public.

“He not being a man in that position,” he said. “He not tellin’ her, ‘Chill out with that on the internet. Don’t even talk to him. I’m your husband! You better not even bring Future’s name up!’ If that was me, she couldn’t even bring his name up. She know that. She couldn’t even bring her exes’ names up. I don’t what they gave you […] Don’t give that s**t no energy.”

Future went on to criticize talk show host Wendy Williams, who has blasted the rapper for having various baby mamas.

“Man, the Wendy Williams situation, the only thing I was mad about her, putting my kid’s mother up that don’t want to be in the limelight,” he said. “[…] They’re not entertainers. Only time people know them is from me. If you see them responding, it’s because they want to respond. You can put her up. You can put them up. But don’t put the ones who ain’t responding. It’s two girls you’re putting on that list that don’t even never do social media.”

Future also addressed his $10 million legal battle with his ex-producer and friend Rocko, who sued the rapper for alleged breach of contract. Rocko claimed he had signed Future to A1 Records back in 2011 on the condition that Future would release his first six albums through the label. That didn’t happen. The rapper went on to ink a deal with Epic Records, and reportedly received millions of dollars in advances. Rocko claimed he was entitled to 25 percent of those advances as well as 20 percent of Future’s earnings from touring and endorsements. The two ultimately settled the suit out of court in 2017. The details of the settlement remain unclear; however, it’s reported that Future paid Rocko seven figures.

“You don’t sue nobody where we come from. The honor that we have on our name. Where you come from, you shouldn’t ever sue no one, but you shouldn’t sue yo’ brother,” Future said, suggesting there was a chance at reconciliation. “[…] He gotta apologize.”

Future also expressed his feelings toward another polarizing hip-hop figure: “I don’t fuck with Joe Budden,” he told Big Bank, “he got a bad a** b***h, though.”

You can stream FREEBANDZ RADIO Presents: THE WIZRD now on Apple Music’s Beats 1. Future also played The WIZRD in its entirety at the end of the broadcast.
