‘Fyre’ Trailer: Netflix Is Ready to Expose the ‘Greatest Party That Never Happened’

Written by on January 10, 2019

Netflix shared the trailer for their upcoming Fyre Festival documentary on Thursday. The film, which covers the failed high-end festival and the world’s collective schadenfreude over the stranded rich kids, features interviews with workers on the ground and people in the orbit of festival organizer Billy McFarland.

Fyre: The Greatest Party That Never Happened was directed by Jim & Andy director Chris Smith, and walks viewers through the creation of the most high-profile failed fest ever created and the social media feeding frenzy that followed.

“Powerful models built this festival and then one picture of cheese on toast ripped down the festival,” said one interviewee.

The inside story premieres on the platform on Jan. 18.

Since the tents were torn down, organizer Billy McFarland has been locked up for defrauding investors. Back in October, McFarland was sentenced to six years in prison and ordered to pay $26 million to the folks he bamboozled with promises of a luxury fest. In prison, McFarland got reflective and apologized for his wrongdoing

“I am incredibly sorry for my collective actions and will right the wrongs I have delivered to my family, friends, partners, associates, and you, the general public,” McFarland wrote. “I’ve always sought — and dreamed — to accomplish incredible things by pushing the envelope to deliver for a common good, but I made many wrong and immature decisions along the way and I caused agony.”

Don’t say it to us, Billy. Say it to Ja.
