‘Game of Thrones’ Gives Fans New Finale Intel With Home Video Release

The home video release of Game of Thrones season 8 is going down next week, complete with multiple bonus features that will provide insight into the HBO hit’s final run for fans, whether pleased with the ending or still profoundly upset.
Entertainment Weekly came through with some highlights from the release, which boasts a behind-the-scenes doc titled Duty Is the Death of Love and audio commentary from Emilia Clarke and the showrunners, all of which focuses on the final episode “The Iron Throne.”
Among the notable bits is further confirmation that Drogon most certainly did not ingest Dany’s body.
“Drogon’s not going to eat you,” co-showrunner David Benioff says in the new release. “He’s not a cat. Did you see how gently he was nudging you?” And as for why Drogon set the Iron Throne ablaze, Benioff provided some insight on what most viewers likely assumed anyway. “If [Dany is] not going to sit on it, no one’s going to sit on it,” he said.
The special features also include info on a pivotal Jon Snow moment, Arya’s path toward becoming an explorer, that coffee cup bullshit, and much more. Peep the full EW rundown here.
In addition to series finale footnotes, the Game of Thrones season 8 Blu-ray/4K Ultra HD/DVD also counts the documentary The Last Wat among its assortment of features. Deleted scenes, including the one embedded below, will also be included. The home video release launches Dec. 3.
