Georgia Tech Football Player Brandon Adams Dies

On Sunday, Georgia Tech announced that defensive lineman Brandon Adam died at the age of 21.
According to reports, the Brentwood, Tennessee native passed this Saturday while on Georgia Tech’s campus. Although no cause was given, it is said that Adams was going through off-season workouts in preparation for spring practices when he died. In a tweet announcing the news, Georgia Tech provided a link where several university officials including the President G.P. “Bud” Paterson and the teams head coach Geoff Collins eulogized the athlete.
“All of us here at Georgia Tech send our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Brandon Adams. We ask that you keep them in your thoughts and prayers” Paterson stated before Collins offered more insight on Adams’ character.
“Our entire Georgia Tech football family is heartbroken by the news of Brandon’s passing,” the coach said. “In the short time that I have had the privilege and honor of knowing Brandon, I admired and respected him, first and foremost as a terrific human being, but also as an outstanding teammate and leader. Jennifer and I offer our thoughts, prayers and unconditional support to his parents, Lisa and Reginald, his sister, Rian, and all of his family and friends, especially his brothers in our football program.”
The 6-foot-2, 325-pound Adams was heading into his senior year at Georgia Tech with a promising season ahead of him. In total, the defensive lineman played in 33 games during his three seasons with the Yellow Jackets. He was coming off his best year as a college player, recording 24 tackles, five tackles for losses and two forced fumbles in 13 games in 2018.
Adams is survived by his mother Lisa Greer, stepfather Reginald Woods, and sister Rian. At this time the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is assisting in determining why Adams passed with the GBI’s medical examiner’s office stating that an autopsy would be conducted Monday.
