Germany’s ‘Big Brother’ Cast to Be Informed About Coronavirus After Being Kept in the Dark

Written by on March 17, 2020

The participants of Big Brother in Germany are in for a shock while the network airing the reality show is in for a ratings boom because the entire cast is completely unaware of how coronavirus has wreaked havoc on the entire world, The Guardian reports

A majority of the 14 men and women competing in the show’s 13th season have been oblivious to what is going on in the outside world since February 6. Four others came into the house on March 6, just days before Germany reported its first death from the virus. There are currently over 7,000 cases in the country with 17 people dead. The cast of Canada’s Big Brother were just recently made aware of the pandemic.

The producers behind Germany’s Big Brother explained to the German newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung that they adhere to a strict policy which forbids them from relaying any news to the cast, unless it has to do with a death in the family. However, due to backlash over their decision on social media, the network will air a special live episode on Tuesday where the housemates will be informed of the global pandemic, allowed to ask questions as they try to process what the hell is going on, and receive video messages from their relatives.

If you’re looking for something to do during your quarantine, you can try and take a crash course in German because this episode is going to be something else. If anything, the blank stares and stunned looks on their faces will, at least, be universally understood.
