After the Bucks fell to the Toronto Raptors in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals Saturday, MVP favorite Giannis Antetokounmpo walked out of the post-game press conference mid-question. ESPN reporter Malika Andrews had asked Giannis and teammate Khris Middleton if they thought experience played a role in their 100-94 loss.

The moment came after Andrews published a piece that focused on if Antetokounmpo was going to stay in Milwaukee. In the article, the journalist cites a “source close to Antetokounmpo” who reportedly said, “getting to the NBA Finals is not just an ambition, it could tip the scales as he weighs his contractual future.”

The 24-year-old NBA star is still contracted for two more seasons with the Bucks and has the opportunity to sign the supermax extension deal in 2020. However, for the player who has injected new life into the small-market franchise, his extension prospects will be more likely should the Bucks reach the NBA Finals next season.

“Milwaukee made major strides this season and still has time to reach a Finals with Antetokounmpo,” Andrews wrote. “Even so, given Antetokounmpo’s intense desire to win and his looming contract decision, the expectations and pressure are bound to increase next season.”

Saturday ended the best Milwaukee season since 2000-01, the last time the franchise made it to the Conference Finals. The Toronto Raptors advance to the NBA Finals to face the Golden State Warriors. Game 1 is on Thursday.
