Giants Players Are Frustrated With Eli Manning’s Play

Written by on October 14, 2018

It seems like Odell Beckham Jr. is not the only member of the New York Giants disappointed in Eli Manning and his team’s struggling offense. The roster is “exceedingly frustrated” with the aging Manning and feel as though he is limiting the potential of their offense, according to CBS Sports.

Eli’s inability to throw the ball downfield and the organization’s decision not to draft a quarterback/utilize Geno Smith has allegedly created a sense of mutiny in the locker room. This report echoes Beckham’s controversial comments given to ESPN on the offensive limitations created by Manning’s deteriorating strength.

“He’s not going to get out of the pocket,” he said. “We know Eli’s not going to run it. Can he still throw it? Yeah. It’s cool catching it shallow and trying to take it, but I want to go over the top of somebody.”

Team facilities are becoming an uneasy environment as a result, leading one source to say, “a quarterback change wouldn’t be unwelcome.” The Giant’s loyalty to the two-time Super Bowl champion could be justified if the team wasn’t currently sitting at 1-5 after finishing with a dismal 3-13 record last year. With a possible savings of $17 million if he’s waived, one might ask if keeping Manning on the roster is doing more harm than good.
