Giants Quarterback Kyle Lauletta Reportedly Arrested

Backup Giants quarterback Kyle Lauletta was arrested Tuesday morning in Weehawken, New Jersey while driving to the team’s practice facility in East Rutherford, NJ.com reports. The 23-year-old rookie out of Richmond allegedly failed to listen to an officer’s directions, two Weehawken sources tell the publication, and came close to hitting the officer with his vehicle.
So far, the police have refused to comment when reached by reporters.
In what is unlikely to be a coincidence, New York’s practice was closed to reporters today, according to an SportsNet New York reporter.
Coach Pat Shurmur has addressed the arrest: “We were made aware of the situation this morning, and we have been in contact with Kyle. We are still in the process of gathering information. This is obviously very disappointing.”
Lauletta was selected by the Giants in the fourth round (107th overall) of the 2018 Draft. Despite Eli Manning’s dreadful play in the first half of the season, Lauletta has yet to take snap so far this season. Many fans expected Lauletta to start their Nov. 12 game against the San Francisco 49ers after Manning’s 1-7 start the year. That’s obviously in doubt now as more details about what precipitated the arrest become available.
