GoldLink Claims Lil Uzi Vert Stole “DMV Flow” on New Song “Free Uzi”

Written by on March 29, 2019

GoldLink has alleged that Lil Uzi Vert’s flow on “Free Uzi” is unoriginal.

The DMV rapper made the claim in a now-deleted Instagram Story, writing, “Lil uzi really stealing the DMV flow and is finna make millions. While the lil n***as here starve for their originality.” However, GoldLink doesn’t go into specifics.

On “Free Uzi,” Uzi spits at a rapid fire, high-pitched tone. It’s his first solo offering since last year’s “New Patek.”

Back in December, he announced that the project was finished; however, he’s remained vague about the status of Eternal Atake since he announced his “retirement” back in January. He’s also had issues with DJ Drama and Don Cannon’s Atlantic imprint Generation Now. Drama has claimed that he and Cannon are not blocking the release of Uzi’s upcoming project.

“Uzi should put EA out tomorrow or any day he wants,” he said in a comment on a DJ Akademiks Instagram post. “He has me & Cannon’s total support and blessings to drop it.” The remarks came after Nav accused Drama and Cannon of refusing to clear an Uzi verse on Nav’s new album, Bad Habits.

Drama’s assertions indicate that the Philly rapper isn’t as retired as he had his fans believe.

“I wanna take the time out to say I thank each and every one of my supporters but I’m done with music,” he wrote on his Instagram Stories, when he revealed his retirement. “I deleted everything. I wanna be normal … I wanna wake up in 2013. You are free.”
