Grimes Addresses Poppy’s ‘Bully’ Allegations: ‘You Dragged Me Into a Disgusting Situation’

Grimes has finally broken her silence, addressing the bullying allegations made by her “Play Destroy” collaborator Poppy. In a new post on her Instagram Stories, Grimes claims Poppy “dragged me into a disgusting situation,” and leaked their song together.
Poppy alleged in an interview with Billboard published earlier in the week that Grimes bullied her during the process of creating “Play Destroy,” and tried “preventing” the song from getting released once it was completed.
“I was kind of bullied into submission by [Grimes] and her team of self-proclaimed feminists,” she said. “We planned the song coming out months ago, and she was preventing it. I got to watch her bully songwriters into signing NDA[s] and not taking credit for songs that they were a part of. She doesn’t practice what she preaches. It’s really upsetting to work with a female that is very outward about a topic, but behind closed doors, it’s the complete opposite. It’s actually very disheartening to people that are actually feminists and supporters of other females.”
Despite all the behind-the-scenes drama surrounding “Play Destroy,” Poppy still considers the song to be one of her favorites off her latest album, Am I a Girl? It was an experience, however, that she “could have gone without.” As for Grimes, she probably wants to focus more on her music, especially “We Appreciate Power,” the new song believed to be on her upcoming album.
