Gucci Mane’s 1017 Records signee Hotboy Wes was arrested by the U.S. Marshals Service Lone Star Fugitive Task Force on Monday.
According to local news station KWTX, Wes, born Wesley Takquan Lewis, was stopped in Waco, Texas after being wanted by the Hewitt Police Department on a robbery warrant. He was reportedly put into the McLennan County Jail with two additional charges of unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon and theft of a firearm because of an allegedly stolen gun that police say was in his possession. Separately, Wes got into legal trouble in 2020 after he was accused of running the mother of his kids off the road while the children were still in the car.
Wes has yet to receive a court date and was held on a $30,000 bond.
The rapper took to social media on Tuesday to say that he was “innocent” and that his phone was confiscated by police. “Hit my DM 12 got my chirp,” he wrote on Instagram Stories.
Gucci Mane announced he signed Hotboy Wes in July of last year as he began to add more new artists to his label. Wes was featured on Gucci and 1017’s compilation tape So Icy Boyz that dropped back in October. Wes had also been featured on several other 1017 compilation tapes since he was signed.
Gucci Mane and 1017 Records have yet to comment on their new artist’s arrest.
