Halsey Shares Video for New Track “You Should Be Sad”

Written by on January 10, 2020

Halsey has shared another taste of her long-awaited studio album, Manic.

Exactly one week before the project’s release, the 25-year-old singer delivered the album’s sixth single “You Should Be Sad” along with its official visual.

“YOU SHOULD BE SAD. New song and WILD video dropping on 1/10. Midnight EST,” she tweeted earlier this week. “Yee fuckin’ haw.”

The record follows Manic singles like “Without Me,” “Graveyard,” “Finally // Beautiful Stranger,” and “Suga’s Interlude” with Suga of BTS. Halsey teased the album during a September 2019 interview with Zane Lowe, shortly after she dropped “Graveyard.”

“I sat there to make this album and I was like, ‘Yeah, I’m going to make an angry album,’” she said. “And I wasn’t mad. It’s exciting. … I’m closing a chapter in this record that I feel very much like I needed to put the final word on, put the nail in the coffin, if you will. Graveyard, marry it.”

You can stream “You Should Be Sad” now on Apple Music and via Spotify below, and check out its Colin Tilley-directed video above.

Manic, the follow-up to 2017’s Hopeless Fountain Kingdom, will arrive Jan. 17, just one week before Halsey serves as the musical guest on Saturday Night Live.

The singer-songwriter will also kick off the Manic World Tour on June 2 in Seattle. The trek will include special guests CHVRCHES, Omar Apollo, Blackbear, and PVRIS.
