Henry Cavill isn’t ready to give up on the role of Superman. While his counterpoint Caped Crusader has exited the DC Universe, Cavill has more stories to tell as the Man of Steel.

In an interview with Men’s Health, the British actor said he wants to return to DC even as the studio is moving away from its flagship characters following the failure of Justice League.

“I’m not just going to sit quietly in the dark as all this stuff is going on,” Cavill said. “I’ve not given up the role. There’s a lot I have to give for Superman yet. A lot of storytelling to do. A lot of real, true depths to the honesty of the character I want to get into. I want to reflect the comic books. That’s important to me. There’s a lot of justice to be done for Superman. The status is: You’ll see.”

This news comes after the star of a successful DC outing let it slip that Cavill wanted to keep a hold on Superman.

“I just talked to Henry… He’s absolutely not [leaving the character],” Jason Momoa told Entertainment Tonight. “He loves the character, he’s not. 100 percent.”

Cavill’s statement follows rumors Cavill was ousted from the role by Warner Bros. Stories swirled claiming negotiations between Cavill and the studio fell apart and WB was cagey when asked about it by Deadline.

“We have a great relationship and great respect for Henry Cavill that continues to remain unchanged. Additionally, we have made no current decisions regarding any upcoming Superman films,” WB shared at the time.
