Background

Sam Mendes’ 1917 and Quentin Tarantino‘s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood took home the top prizes at the Ricky Gervais-hosted Golden Globes throwdown earlier this month, but will they fare as well among the 2020 class of Oscar nominees?

With the unveiling of the 92nd Oscar nominations on Monday morning, we gota look at who made the cut for the 2020 class, with both films entering the week practically guaranteed to make appearances in multiple categories. Nominees in all 24 categories are being announced live via a two-part presentation hosted by Issa Rae and John Cho. Little Women, Marriage Story, Joker, and Parasite were among the other films that rode a wave of frequent mentions in Oscars prediction discourse ahead of the nominations’ unveiling. If there were any goodness left in this world whatsoever, Honey Boy would have bagged approximately 10,000 nominations and the Directing category wouldn’t be comprised entirely of men.

Catch the 2020 noms announcement special below:

The 2020 Oscars ceremony goes down live from the Dolby Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center in Hollywood on Feb. 9.
