This was a week of firsts on the Billboard charts. We saw XXXTentacion‘s first posthumous album in Skins and the first 2018 album from Gucci Mane.
X’s first posthumous album notched No. 1 with 132,000 equivalent album units in its debut week. Billboard points out it’s the first posthumous album to hit No. 1 since Prince’s The Very Best of Prince. Meek Mill’s Championships slid down from the No. 1 to No. 2 spot.
Gucci Mane’s Evil Genius pulled in 51,000 units, good enough for No. 5.
Interest around X hasn’t waned since his death this summer. His collaboration with Lil Peep and Maluma on the track “Arms Around You” and Kanye West‘s defensive “One Minute” appearance have kept X’s name in headlines.
Other releases include the recently shared animated clip for “BAD!” and Ye’s capsule collection with XXXTentacion and Travis Barker.
Meanwhile, Guwop seems to be living his best life. The artist talked with Zane Lowe about the way his prison stint helped set him on the right path. Mane explained he was headed to death before he was incarcerated.
“I wouldn’t want to do it like that again, but you know… I don’t know, ” Gucci Mane said. “Drugs could’ve killed me, so you don’t know the future, but at the same time, jail was so hard, so I don’t know.”
