Here Are the First Week Numbers for Young Thug’s ‘Punk’

Young Thug earned his third No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with Punk taking the top spot in its debut week, Billboard reports.
Punk amassed 90,000 equivalent album units, 77,000 of which accounted for SEA units, equaling 102 million on-demand streams of the album’s tracks. His latest offering arrives just over two years after his debut solo studio effort, So Much Fun. In an interview with Complex, Thug explained that his meticulous approach to the concept of this album is what resulted in an extended wait for his fans.
”Punk is just real life stories. The whole album is purified. It’s just real,” he said. “The whole album is just focused on one point. The hard part about this shit is making 12, 14, 16 songs about one thing, without crossing up and saying the same thing. That is why this shit takes time. This shit has been going on for two years now.”
Early projections saw Punk and Drake’s Certified Lover Boy neck-and-neck for the top spot on the Billboard 200. In the end, Thug’s second studio album edged out CLB, which finished in second with 83,000 units. Meanwhile, Mac Miller’s Faces, the 2014 mixtape that was recently made available on vinyl and for streaming, rounded out the top three after moving 67,000 equivalent album units. That sum is almost evenly divided between 34,000 in album sales, and 33,000 SEA units, equaling 43.03 million on-demand streams.
Faces marks the seventh time Mac has reached the top 10 on the Billboard 200.
