Here Are the First Week Projections for Drake’s ‘Care Package’

Written by on August 4, 2019

Drake is on track for another No. 1 debut.

According to projections reported by HitsDailyDouble, the rapper’s Care Package is expected to move between 100,000 to 120,000 units in its first week; 15,000 to 18,000 of those units will come from traditional sales. Lil Durk’s Love Songs 4 the Streets II is projected to take the No. 2 slot with 35,000 to 40,000 units.

If the projections are correct, Care Package will secure Drake’s sixth No. 1 debut and ninth No. 1 album. His other No. 1 debuts include 2018’s Scorpion with 732,000 equivalent album units; 2016’s Views with 1.04 million units; 2013’s Nothing Was the Same with 658,000; and his 2010 debut album Thank Me Later with 447,000.

Care Package is compilation project made up of 17 songs that were originally released as stand-alone cuts. Prior to the album’s release, the records were unavailable on streaming services and could only be heard through Soundcloud or illegal YouTube rips. Care Package titles included “Free Spirit” featuring Rick Ross, “Jodeci Freestyle” with J. Cole, “4PM in Calabasas,” and “Dreams Money Can Buy.” Many of these songs—some of which were recorded nearly a decade ago—were originally intended for Drake’s previous LPs.

Earlier this year, Drake re-released his 2010 mixtape So Far Gone on all major streaming platforms. The tape garnered 45,000 equivalent album sales in its first week, marking Drizzy’s 10th consecutive top 10 album.

Stay tuned for the official tally.
