Here Are the First-Week Projections for Young Thug’s ‘So Much Fun’

Written by on August 21, 2019

Young Thug is poised to have his biggest-ever first week of sales, according to industry blog Hits Daily Double. The official studio debut from the Atlanta weirdo is perhaps his most critically acclaimed effort ever and the streams are following suit.

HDD projects that the album will pull in 125,000-150,000 equivalent album units with 4 to 7 thousand of those units coming from actual sales. That’s more than good enough for the top slot on the Billboard 200, besting Lionel Richie’s Vegas ticket-bundled album (57-62 thousand units, 56-61 thousand in sales). Quality Control: Control The Streets, Vol. 2  is projected to move 55-60K equivalent units to land in the No. 3 spot. Control The Streets, Vol. 2, which also dropped last week, boasted features from Meek Mill, Travis Scott, Megan Thee Stallion, Gunna, Playboi Carti, French Montana, Saweetie, Mustard, Young Thug, Gucci Mane, Tee Grizzley, DaBaby, and others.

If the projection holds, it will be Young Thug’s first number one. His last two albums didn’t come close to cracking 100K in their first week, with On The Rvn only hitting 28,000 and Slime Language getting to 41 thousand units.

As our own Eric Skelton put it, the stars were aligning for a truly successful Young Thug release.
