Lil Pump will hit Harvard St. this Thursday for a live interview and audience Q&A conducted by WHRB Harvard Radio. Harvard, of course, is notably the same university for which Pump’s label claimed he would be giving an official commencement speech.

The same day Pump’s team sent out a press release announcing the speech, it was pointed out that Angela Merkel had previously been announced as the university’s commencement speaker. Now, in a statement to Consequence of Sound, a Harvard rep confirmed that Pump is “not speaking at any commencement” or related events.

“The only thing we are aware of that he is doing a live interview with WHRB Harvard Radio this Thursday and is taking questions from audience/listeners,” the rep said. “That, though, is a Harvard Radio student event, not a Harvard University event.”

The Facebook event page lists the Feb. 28 event as “Lil Pump: Harvard x Harverd Activation.” Per the event page info, only those with a university ID will be admitted.

When asked if WHRB had announced this event on the air as claimed in the original “commencement speech” press release, WHRB program director Allison Pao replied, “We did not publicize this event on our air because this is for Harvard ID holders only.”

The Harvard theme has been a long-running narrative in the Lil Pump universe. The title of his new album, Harverd Dropout, directly references Pump’s 2017 claim of carrying out that title in real life “to save the rap game.”
