Here’s What the iPhone 12 Pro Max Is Expected to Look Like

Expect some drastic design changes to the next flagship iPhone.
On Thursday, YouTube channel EverythingApplePro posted a video that purportedly shows what Apple has in store for the iPhone 12 Pro Max. The video includes early CAD renders based on leaked schematics obtained by Max Weinbach, who has become one of the most reliable sources for unreleased smartphone information.
Filip Koroy, the man behind EverythingApplePro, presented a 3D-printed dummy of the iPhone model while walking viewers through some of the key design changes and new features. He highlights the angular design that is reminiscent of the new iPad pros. The model will reportedly feature a flat metal frame as well as a flat display—details that line up with previous reports.
“I was pleasantly surprised by how futuristic it feels,” Koroy said. “In no way was the square housing uncomfortable or digging into your palm like I thought it would be. This is pretty much the design of the iPad Pro in the iPhone.”
Other notable design details include a smaller notch and a 6.7-inch display—the largest ever for an iPhone; a 7.4mm frame and 1.5mm bezels; a rear three-camera module with a LiDAR scanner; improved speakers, and what appears to be a Smart Connector where the SIM card is typically located. Koroy points out that it’s unclear why Apple would add a Smart Connector the iPhone 12 Pro Max, but believes “it’s possible that Apple could be working on a slew of other accessories or other uses for a Smart Connector on the side of an iPhone.”
Koroy goes on to say that the schematics are only 70 percent complete, which means the design could undergo additional changes for its expected fall release. You can check out the video below.
The video arrives just days after Apple launched the pre-order for the second-generation iPhone SE. The “budget-friendly” device is being sold for $399 and is expected to ship next week.
