Iggy Azalea Announces She’s No Longer Retired From Music: ‘Cry About It’

Written by on August 9, 2022

After saying she would be stepping away from music back in 2021, Iggy Azalea announced that she’s changed her mind.

“A year ago I was willing to walk away from music because I was tired of the negative energy it attracted,” Azalea wrote on Monday. “But what I’ve learned is that even when I’m minding my business, y’all gonna be negative AND nosey. So if I can’t have peace, neither can you. I’m coming back. Cry about it.”

Iggy went on to say that she plans to release music via her Bad Dreams label.

The “Fancy” rapper had previously announced her retirement in July 2021 prior to the release of her third studio album The End of an Era that August.

“‘End of an Era’ is so special to me because after I drop my album next month iam going to take a few years to focus on other creative projects and things I’m feeling passionate and inspired by, beyond music,” she tweeted at the time. “I’m excited for you guys to see different sides to me in the future.”

She continued,  “Shifting my energy and focus to what I’m most excited about is what is right for me and I hope you’ll continue to support whatever creative projects I’m out here doing! I really love this album and I just want my fans to enjoy this with me. I hope I see so many of you on tour!”

The End of an Era dropped on Aug. 13, 2021, and featured the singles “Brazil,” “I am the Stripclub,” and “Sex on the Beach.” The project included features from BIA, Sophia Scott, and Ellise.
