‘Iron Fist’ Canceled by Netflix After 2 Seasons

Sorry Iron Fist fans, but the show has been canceled.
Netflix decided to ax the Marvel series, Deadline reported Friday night.
“Marvel’s Iron Fist will not return for a third season on Netflix,” Marvel and Disney said in a joint statement provided to Deadline. “Everyone at Marvel Television and Netflix is proud of the series and grateful for all of the hard work from our incredible cast, crew and showrunners. We’re thankful to the fans who have watched these two seasons, and for the partnership we’ve shared on this series. While the series on Netflix has ended, the immortal Iron Fist will live on.”
Even though the first season was pretty awful, many assumed that a third season would be a lock for the Finn Jones-led series. But ‘Iron Fist’ is the first Marvel show to be canceled by the streaming giant.
‘Iron Fist’ got off to a bit of a rough start, when a viral controversy regarding ‘whitewashing’ popped up. Iron Fist co-creator Roy Thomas told Inverse that he “had little patience for some of the feelings that some people have.”
“I mean, I understand where it’s coming from. You know, cultural appropriation, my god,” Thomas said back in May 2017. “It’s just an adventure story. Don’t these people have something better to do than to worry about the fact that Iron Fist isn’t Oriental, or whatever word? I know Oriental isn’t the right word now, either.”
No word yet on what happens next.
