J.J. Abrams’ Bad Robot to Reportedly Develop DC’s ‘Justice League Dark’ TV & Film Projects

Written by on January 22, 2020

J.J. Abrams‘ production company Bad Robot will develop TV and film projects for DC’s Justice League Dark from Warner Bros., Deadline reports.

Bad Robot’s rumored involvement with the Justice League Dark universe comes a few months after WarnerMedia announced its deal with Abrams worth a reported $500 million. The pact will task Bad Robot with creating content across its wide-array of platforms.

JLD features a roster that includes John Constantine, the Changing Man, Deadman, Madame Xanadu, Shade, Zatanna, Swamp Thing, and more. Their stories operate outside the realm of the well-known characters from the original Justice League (Wonder Woman, The Flash, Batman, Aquaman).

It’s an encouraging change of scenery for Abrams after Disney reportedly meddled with his final cut of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, and allegedly forced him to make changes and alterations to the film that he didn’t want to do.

The person behind these alleged revelations, Reddit user EgoShoppe, accused Disney of trying to sabotage Abrams’ standing with Warner Bros. because the Mouse House was aware of J.J.’s plan to work with DC, Marvel’s main competitor in the comic book adaptation market. Regardless of what may or may not have transpired, Rise of Skywalker still eclipsed the $1 billion mark.

Bad Robot’s development of any upcoming JLD projects are still in the early stages. Both sides are reportedly planning to meet soon to discuss which characters from this universe deserve their own series or film.

Stay tuned as more information about the rumored projects arrive.
