Jack Dorsey Recalls Having a Goat Dinner With Mark Zuckerberg: ‘He Kills it With a Laser Gun’

Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey revealed in an interview with Rolling Stone that he once had a goat dinner with Mark Zuckerberg during a period in the Facebook co-founder’s life where he only ate what he killed.
“He kills it with a laser gun and then the knife,” Dorsey said. “Then they send it to the butcher.” While something as ridiculous as a laser gun seems well within Zuckerberg’s price range, Dorsey says the process may have actually involved a stun gun.
“Evidently in Palo Alto there’s a rule or regulation that you can have six livestock on any lot of land, so he had six goats at the time,” Dorsey said. “I go, ‘We’re eating the goat you killed?’ He said, ‘Yeah.’ I said, ‘Have you eaten goat before?’ He’s like, ‘Yeah, I love it.’ I’m like, ‘What else are we having?’ ‘Salad.’ I said, ‘Where is the goat?’ ‘It’s in the oven.’ Then we waited for about 30 minutes. He’s like, ‘I think it’s done now.’ We go in the dining room. He puts the goat down. It was cold. That was memorable.”
Dorsey admits that he doesn’t remember if the goat was placed back in the oven because he stuck with the salad.
Elsewhere in the interview, Dorsey discussed the speech impediment he once had. After going through speech therapy for two years, he became so shy that he didn’t even want to speak to his own family. It was an improv speech contest in junior high that addressed the issue once and for all.
“When I was in junior high, I was just deathly afraid of speaking,” he said. “Then I decided that it was ridiculous, and I needed to get out there, so I joined the speech team. They have this improv speech contest. They give you a white card with a word on it, and you have five minutes to write a speech on it. It was the scariest thing I could do. I just kept doing it and doing it and doing it. It worked.”
