In her upcoming book, Things I Should Have Said, Jamie Lynn Spears details the unsettling events surrounding her 2007 pregnancy at age 16.

According to an excerpt obtained by TMZ, Spears told her inner circle she had every intention of keeping the child; however, she claims her parents and management immediately pushed back on the idea and began pressuring her to get an abortion – stating a child would harm her career as a teen star.

She said at one point during her pregnancy, her team “… came to my room trying to convince me that having a baby at this point in my life was a terrible idea … ‘It will kill your career. You are just too young. You don’t know what you’re doing. There are pills you can take. We can help you take care of this problem … I know a doctor,’” adding, “everyone around me just wanted to make this ‘issue’ disappear …everyone was certain that termination would be the best course of action.”

After her inner circle realized abortion was out of the question, they proposed giving the baby to another family. Spears recalled one instance in which her father brought up the adoption idea and became so frustrated he began “slinging words and tossing insults.” She also claimed her family took away her cellphone to ensure she didn’t communicate with anyone outside her circle, including Britney.

“I needed her more than ever and she wasn’t able to help me in my most vulnerable time …” Spears wrote. “To this day, the hurt of not being able to tell my sister myself still lingers.”

Once her family accepted Spears would keep the child, they secured an exclusive deal with OK! magazine, allowing the publication to break the story as well as publish the first photos of her baby, Maddie Briann Aldridge, whom she shares with ex-fiance Casey Aldridge.

Spears said she and her mom went into hiding until the magazine article came out. She said they spent Thanksgiving together inside a cabin she thought was in Connecticut. She recalled seeing her mom wearing “her disappointment like her favorite jacket.”

Things I Should Have Said is scheduled to hit shelves on Jan. 18, 2022.

Britney, who recently announced plans to write a fiction book, is in the midst of a highly publicized legal battle over her 13-year conservatorship. Her father, Jamie Spears, served as the lead conservator until his suspension in September. She expanded on her pain and frustration in a lengthy Instagram post back in July, saying her “so-called support system hurt me deeply.” Many fans suspected Britney was referring to her family, including little sister, Jamie Lynn.
