Jay Electronica Defends ‘A Written Testimony,’ Responds to Peter Rosenberg

Jay Electronica ended nearly ten years of false starts to finally deliver his debut album earlier this week.
A Written Testimony, which heavily features JAY-Z, was met with fairly positive reviews and praised for his high level lyricism. On Saturday, Jay E thanked his fans for supporting him.
But here is where things start to get dicey. Electronica heard about Peter Rosenberg’s tweets from Friday, where he was offended by a line that uses “the synagogues of Satan.” Rosenberg was quoting Electronica’s 2014 song “Better in Tune With the Infinite.” Electronica raps, “My feet might fail me, my heart might ail me/The synagogues of Satan might accuse or jail me.”
Ebro tried to let Rosenberg know the term was from the Bible, but Rosenberg said it was from the New Testament.
He later corrected himself on the lyric, referencing Jay’s second mention of the Satan line on “Ghost of Soulja Slim.” “And I bet you a Rothschild I get a bang for my dollar/The synagogue of Satan want me to hang by my collar,” he raps.
Electronica responded to all of this, saying he should take his issues with the writers of the New Testament.
“We sat down in an interview before and talked about my stance in these matters and it’s there for anyone to go pull up. we’re you offended then? then you quoted better in tune w the infinite which was released in 2014 so what #AWrittenTestimony made you go back and listen to BITWTI and you were retro offended? if you have a problem w the term Synagouge of Satan, don’t take it up w me, take it up w the writers of the New Testament. Don’t play w me Peter, i ain’t the one. and you know this. i come in peace and i go in peace. let’s keep it that way.”
Electronica continued tweeting, saying:

I stand on every single word i said on this album. #AWrittenTestimony #ISaidWhatISaid and btw, @Rosenbergradio if you REALLY wanna get into it, we are willing to hold a discussion in a PUBLIC FORUM on The Synagogue of Satan and it’s meaning with any Scholars of Theology you would like to bring. until then. STFU
Rosenberg responded by telling Electronica he has a public forum if they want to discuss the lyric in question. Jay looked like he was done talking, though.
Finally, he retweeted Meek Mill and gave him some words of encouragement. Maybe Jay does come in peace.
