JAY-Z Addresses Kanye on Meek Mill’s New Album ‘CHAMPIONSHIPS’

Written by on November 30, 2018

Meek Mill‘s CHAMPIONSHIPS album has some words for Kanye West. And, no, they don’t come from the Philly rapper.

Shortly after the project hit streaming services, fans began dissecting lines in the “What’s Free” track featuring Rick Ross and JAY-Z. Hov can be heard spitting a number of lines that reference Kanye’s recent support of Donald Trump and his affinity for the MAGA hat:

No red hat, don’t Michael and Prince me and Ye/They separate you when you got Michael and Prince’s DNA/I ain’t one of these house n***as you bought/My house like a resort, my house bigger than yours/My spo—c’mon, man—my route better of course

Though they were once considered a hip-hop power duo, JAY and Kanye’s bromance has deteriorated over the past several years. There was hope that the two were on good terms after Ye posted a photo of the JAY and Beyoncé with the caption, “Famleeeeee.”

You can stream Meek’s new album now on all major streaming services, including Apple Music/iTunes.

In the days leading up to CHAMPIONSHIPS release, Meek reiterated his criticism of Kanye’s apparent allegiance to Trump. He told Vulture that he pressured Ye to ditch his scheduled meeting with Trump inside the Oval Office

“I don’t think [Kanye] addressed anything that had to do with what was tough on justice reform. He wasn’t prepared for it, and he shouldn’t have done it. I had phone calls with Kanye for hours. He was trying to get me to go to things like that,” he says. His conversations with Kim Kardashian West, he says, were more promising — “She knew a lot more information than I thought she would know, [but] I just couldn’t reason with them.”
