Jim Carrey took additional shots at Donald Trump during the 2018 Britannia Awards.
The ceremony went down Friday night in L.A., where Carrey received the Charlie Chaplin Britannia Award for Excellence in Comedy. Immediately after Dumb and Dumber director Peter Farrelly presented the honor, Carrey dived into a passionate speech that referenced everything from the Colin Kaepernick controversy to the dangers of reality TV to the recent bomb threats directed at Trump critics.
“I’m glad it didn’t come in the mail,” he told the crowd as he held his trophy. “It kinda worked, it kinda worked—maybe be a little soon. It is my job to try. Sorry. Yes, I no longer have packages delivered to my home in the great America fashioned in the last couple of years. I don’t ever remember it being this great, actually.” (Insert sarcastic tone.)
The legendary comedian also blasted POTUS’ political strategy, which he said was based on hate, greed, and abuse. Carrey specifically criticized the Trump administrations’ zero-tolerance immigration policy, which has separated undocumented children from their families.
“[Trump] took on the American right wing of his day, its worst evils—hatred of immigrants, contempt for the truth, greed, and the abuse of power,” he told the audience. “We are fighting those same evils today. In America, the United Kingdom and across the globe, and we need to be clear: Shamelessness is not and will never be a superpower, It is the mark of a villain. Kidnapping children is not what great nations do. Almost half of America at this moment believes there is a sinister, deep state diabolically plotting… to what? Give them health care? What is the sinister plan here?”
He continued: “We in America are misinformed. Reality shows have warped our reality of what a hero is, or what truth is. So tonight I’d like to dedicate this award to those who remind us of our virtues, who remind us of the truth.”

In response to this week’s bomb threats, the Kidding star shared a painting of the president holding an explosive device in his mouth. The image was captioned with claims that Trump was partly responsible for these acts, as his “hate speech” has emboldened “these terrorists.”
