Jim Carrey Slammed by Benito Mussolini’s Granddaughter on Twitter

Jim Carrey has been having a totally normal one for quite a while now. But even held up against the 100% regular life of the former comedian turned anti-vax political artist, today was extra normal. Today, he got into a Twitter feud with the granddaughter of Benito Mussolini.
The beef kicked off after Carrey posted an original that he made, depicting the execution of Mussolini alongside his mistress Clara Petacci.
Alessandra Mussolini, a member of European Parliament who is proof positive that America doesn’t have a stranglehold on inexplicable political dynasties, took offense. She called Carrey “a bastard” before running through a Greatest Hits of the United States’ worst moments.
The semi-reclusive actor has not responded. Carrey has largely shied away from the spotlight that he commanded throughout the ’90s, only returning recently to reunite with director Michel Gondry for the series Kidding. The actor said he’s aware of the criticism that comes with his decision to retreat.
“I hear the voices,” Carrey said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. “I hear people say, ‘Why doesn’t he just be funny?’ That stuff has just never mattered to me. To me, it’s like, this is the experiment tonight. If you enjoy it, great, if you don’t, that’s cool, too. There’ll be another one tomorrow.”
