Joe Rogan Responds to Criticism for Using Ivermectin to Treat COVID-19

In his first podcast since testing positive for COVID-19, Joe Rogan responded to the backlash he received for saying he would be using Ivermectin. Rogan also went after CNN’s coverage of his diagnosis in which people on the network criticized him for touting unproven treatments.
“Do I have to sue CNN?” Rogan asked guest Tom Segura in reference to their coverage of his coronavirus treatment. “They’re making shit up! They keep saying I’m taking horse dewormer. I literally got it from a doctor. It’s an American company. They won the Nobel Prize in 2015 for use in human beings and CNN is saying I’m taking horse dewormer. They must know that’s a lie.”
Rogan’s comments arrive after CNN medical analyst Dr. Jonathan Reiner spoke out against the host’s methods last Wednesday night and said that Rogan has highlighted several unproven remedies.
“He’s promoting, kind of a crazy jumble of, you know, sort of folk remedies and internet-prescribed drugs. It’s, again, dangerous now,” Reiner previously explained. “He should have more sense. After encountering the disease, and again, I hope he does well and gets well quickly, he’s not helping matters when he promotes this sort of nonsense therapeutic mix.”
“Multiple doctors told me to take it,” Rogan said on the podcast episode. “What [the media] didn’t highlight is that I got better! They’re trying to make it seem as if I’m doing some wacky shit that’s completely ineffective.”
The CDC and FDA have urged people not to take ivermectin to treat COVID-19.
Rogan returned to his podcast after he announced his diagnosis last Wednesday, captioning an Instagram post, “I GOT COVID.”
“I got back from the road Saturday night, feeling very weary, I had a headache, and I just felt, just run down,” Rogan said in the clip. “Just to be cautious, I separated from my family, slept in a different part of the house, and throughout the night I got fevers and sweats and I knew what was going on.”
