Joey Badass is back on his music grind.
After devoting the last several years to his acting career, the Brooklyn rapper returns this week with his new single “The Rev3nge” and its official video. Joey announced the drop on social media this week, sharing two movie poster-like teasers. “They say the best revenge is success,” the tagline read.
Produced by Powers Pleasant, “The Rev3nge” finds the Pro Era member reflecting on his triumphant return to the rap game. The song, which he performed several times last year, arrives nearly 17 months after Joey released his three-track bundle The Light Pack.
“Heard they was sleepin’ again, say it no more,” he raps in the first verse. “This is a rude awakenin’, kick in the door/ Back and I’m better than ever before/Don’t get it mistaken, I’m ready for war.”
The child.-directed video further highlights Joey’s acting skills, as it begins with him on a movie set before carrying out acts of vengeance. You can check out the cinematic visual via YouTube above and stream “The Rev3nge” now on all major platforms.
Earlier this month, Joey took to Instagram to announce his third album, the follow-up to 2017’s All-Amerikkkan Badass, would arrive sometime in 2022.
“When the album dropping? Shit, the album dropping this year fasho. Fasho, fasho,” he said during an Instagram Live broadcast. “I ain’t gonna say exactly when, though, because there’s certain rappers who be on my heels. So I’ma just, you know—it’s coming, though.”
Stay tuned as we keep our eyes peeled for more information.
