John Boyega Reveals It Was His ‘Rise of Skywalker’ Script That Ended Up on eBay

Written by on November 27, 2019

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker director and co-writer J.J. Abrams recently revealed that one of the film’s cast members had their script stolen and put on eBay, but he refused to say who it was. After getting put on the spot during an appearance on Good Morning America, John Boyega has admitted that he was the one responsible for the blunder.

“Alright guys, it was me,” the actor behind Finn admitted. “Wait wait wait… Let me tell you how this all went down. It was actually from my apartment, I was moving apartments, and I left my script under my bed. I’m leaving in the morning and [figured that] when I leave I’ll take it [with me]. But then my boys came over, and we started partying a little bit, and then the script just stayed there. And then a few weeks after, this cleaner comes in, finds the script, and then puts it on eBay for like £65 [$84].”

Clearly embarassed by the situation, Boyega joked that it was a great opportunity for fans to read the film before seeing it in theaters. “It was scary, man,” Boyega added. “I got calls every—even Mickey Mouse called me, ‘What did you do?!’ But it all worked out in the end.” And to think, Kylo Ren actor Adam Driver seemed like the most appropriate person to blame.

TMZ also caught Boyega in NYC; he joked Abrams should “get over it”:
