John Krasinski Shares ‘Some Good News’ YouTube Show With Special Guest Steve Carell

Written by on March 30, 2020

The COVID-19 pandemic has got people all across the world locked down in their homes, and many are using the time to get creative. Actor-writer-director John Krasinski, for example, is hoping to bring good news to the world with his new YouTube channel, Some Good News. Inspired to spread some positivity amidst all the bad news, he was joined by his former The Office co-star Steve Carell for the channel’s first video.

Presented like a homemade newscast, Krasinski greets viewers in a suit and with a “SGN” sign his daughters made for him. “For years now, I’ve been wondering why is there not a news show dedicated entirely to good news?” he asks. “Well, desperately seeking my fix somewhere else, I reached out to all of you this week, asking — nay, begging — for some good news. And boy, did you deliver. After reading those replies and the incredibly heartwarming stories that came with them, I thought, ‘All right. Enough is enough, world. Why not us? Why not now?’ So, ladies and gentleman, this is your fault, and this is SGN. I’m John Krasinski, and if it isn’t clear yet, I have absolutely no idea what I’m doing.”

He went on to praise the global healthcare community, including clips of people applauding those who have put their own health on the line to help combat the virus. After sharing a number of heartwarming clips and stories, he invited Carell for an interview that coincides the 15-year anniversary of The Office. “I guarantee you that the bottom half of what you have on does not match the top,” joked Carell of Krasinski’s suit. After his chat with Carell, he talked with cancer survivor Coco, who received a round of applause from her entire neighborhood.
