Josh Johnson Played ‘Madden’ to Learn Names of His Redskins Teammates

Washington Redskins quarterback Josh Johnson has been out of the league for a hot minute. In fact, it’s been so long that Johnson had to brush up on his new teammates via a game of Madden.
Before Sunday, it had been nearly seven years since Johnson completed a pass in the NFL. To find a similar sort of drought, you have to go all the way back to Doug Flutie’s return to the league in 1998.
Johnson won the starting job in Washington after an abysmal performance by Mark Sanchez and managed to score two touchdowns. It wasn’t enough to overcome the Giants (who had a 40-point head start), but it was enough for Johnson to win the number-one spot. With the rest of the season ahead of him, presumably Johnson will be able to learn his teammates’ names the old-fashioned way: playing Madden against them.
Not to say Johnson wasn’t worth another look but we can’t help but point out that there’s somebody with a better handle on the current NFL who is just waiting on a call.
