Judge Denies Lil Durk’s Request to Lift Travel Restrictions

Written by on July 1, 2019

An Atlanta judge has denied Lil Durk‘s request to lift his curfew when traveling outside of Atlanta, TMZ reports

During a hearing held on Monday, the rapper explained to the court that the sanctions of his bond are hindering his career. Since Durk was bailed out of jail, he has been required to remain out of the public during the hours of 11 p.m. – 7 a.m.

In documents obtained by TMZ, Durk’s legal team explains that this curfew restricts his travel and stops him from performing at previously scheduled concerts. They asked that Durk be allowed to perform at the Dope Shows Festival in Philadelphia as the organizers are threatening to sue Durk if he doesn’t appear. The rapper also states that the curfew has forced him to cancel close to six shows since bailing out. This has stopped him from being able to properly provide for his six children and other dependent family members.

Despite this, the judge has rejected the rapper’s plea. Durk is still allowed to request permission to leave Atlanta, but he will still be regulated to the 11 p.m.-7 a.m. curfew.

In May, Durk turned himself in to Atlanta authorities after being named as a suspect in a shooting that took place in February. According to police, Durk was allegedly involved in a shooting at the Varsity restaurant that left one victim severely injured. Durk’s lawyers insist their client was not directly involved. The rapper is currently facing five felony charges that include criminal attempt to commit murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
