Kano Shares The Making Behind ‘Hoodies All Summer’ In Brand New Short Documentary

Grime star Kano takes us on a journey exploring the creative process and concepts behind his outstanding sixth album, Hoodies All Summer.
The 13-minute short film follows one of British music’s most coherent storytellers as he pieces together one of last year’s best album releases. Hoodies All Summer, released in August 2019, saw Kano talk about the love he has for his people, young black people especially, using everything from grime and hip-hop to dancehall and UKG to tell it on.
Showcasing never-before-seen, behind-the-scenes footage, we see Kano in the studio alongside fellow collaborators and producers Blue May and Jodi Milner, where they touch on the making of one of his most prominent tracks, “Trouble”.
The East End legend also explains what he wanted his music to represent through examining the world we live in, saying: “As an artist, it’s part of my job to talk about the times we’re living in. I didn’t want to approach certain topics on this album as if I was talking down to people. I’m rooted in the street, I’m connected to the street, I’m from these communities but I have distance — I’m over here but we’re on the same level.”
Ultimately, this insightful and inspirational documentary highlights the desire, talent and principles of a musician who hasn’t lost touch with reality. With appearances from Popcaan, D Double E, Kojo Funds and Ghetts, it’s definitely worth the watch.
