Ye and Demna are bringing their proven collaborative power to Gap.
Early Friday, the artist formerly known as Kanye West took to Instagram to confirm the new collab by sharing an excerpt from the associated legal documents.
Meanwhile, a press release notes Ye has pioneered what’s being billed as a “new creative exploration within the Yeezy Gap universe.” The collab, formally titled Yeezy Gap Engineered by Balenciaga, is expected to available worldwide this year. The press release also clarified that the Yeezy x Gap x Balenciaga pieces will be rolled out “alongside continued Yeezy Gap releases.”
A report from Vogue, shared Friday, adds that the first drop from Yeezy Gap Engineered by Balenciaga is slated for this June, while a second drop will arrive later in 2022. Per Demna, this latest creative endeavor with Kanye (with whom he’s recently worked as part of the extended Donda rollout) marked a chance for the two to craft “utilitarian fashion for all.”

In comments shared with Vogue, Ye said working with Gap and Demna (who, like Ye, was recently announced as going by a single name only) simultaneously represents a “vision come true” that will see them making “incredible product available to everyone at all times.”
Balenciaga has been a sustaining presence throughout the still-in-progress Donda era. Earlier this week, for example, West was seen in widely shared photos enjoying a shutdown-level store visit.
The latest Balenciaga news builds nicely on Thursday’s surprise-released commentary from Julia Fox, who wrote a piece for Interview detailing the “instant connection” she felt with Ye after initially meeting in Miami on New Year’s Eve.
