Kanye West Recounts Kobe Bryant’s Initial Reaction to “All Day” at Miami Sunday Service

Written by on February 2, 2020

Kanye West and his Sunday Service choir visited Miami during Super Bowl weekend.

During the event, Ye made mention of Kobe Bryant, who died in a helicopter crash last Sunday, alongside his daughter Gianna and seven others.

Before launching into the song “All Day,” Kanye talked about Kobe and Vanessa Bryant’s reaction to the track. “I asked [Kobe] what he thought about this song, and his only response was ‘theme music,’” Kanye said before performing a version of the record.

Among the other songs they performed were “Can’t Tell Me Nothing” and “Black Skinhead.” Fat Joe, GLC, Jadakiss, and Akon also stopped by to link with Kanye.

The Sunday Service installment—which was produced in partnership with Vous Church in Wynwood—was held in an area where the NFL is hosting a free Super Bowl fan event, according to Miami’s Local 10.

Kanye West celebrated the life and legacy of Kobe Bryant by hosting a post-Grammys, midnight Sunday Service in Burbank, California. Kanye was captured on video singing about the moment he learned of Bryant’s death. Chance the Rapper also rapped his verse from “Ultralight Beam” in honor of Kobe, and Kanye paid tribute to the late legend with a freestyle.

In early January, reports indicated Kanye wants to take Sunday Service to Europe and Africa next, with a plan to eventually take Sunday Service worldwide.
