Kanye West Reportedly Working on New Album in Miami With Migos, Timbaland, and More

Written by on January 7, 2019

Kanye West, who recently opened his 2019 with another disappointing return to the cold embrace of Trumpism, is reportedly now gathering a top-tier assortment of collaborators in Miami to work on a new album.

A report from TMZ filed super early Monday claims that West has assembled Migos, Timbaland, Lil Wayne, 2 Chainz, Tee Grizzley, and YNW Melly for the latest round of new album sessions. It’s worth noting that the report doesn’t make clear whether these are merely continued sessions for the previously announced and postponed Yandhi, or for an entirely new project.

The report also includes a few more words of sources-backed intel in connection with the condo West recently purchased as a surprise to Kim Kardashian. Per those sources and their words, West and Kardashian are now reportedly planning to split time between Miami and the general Los Angeles area.

The new album chatter arrives following the first installment of West’s Sunday Service sessions, which will apparently be livestreamed each Sunday. The first edition featured run-throughs of newer classics like “Reborn” and older legacy builders like “I Wonder,” with Kid Cudi and 070 Shake among those on hand for the proceedings.

West’s most recent solo album, last year’s Ye, marked arguably the first time in West’s career that he wasn’t later leading the year-end zeitgeist wheelie pop talk off the strength of his songs. The seven-tracker was mostly ignored in discussions of 2018’s best, though his joint album with Kid Cudi rightfully fared much better.

Given what we know about Yandhi, or whatever title his next project ends up with, we can be hopeful that West is aware of what did and didn’t work in that G.O.O.D. Music production marathon. However, his aforementioned recent tweets may suggest otherwise:
