Kanye West Sends a Message to Bob Dylan: ‘Let’s Get Together’

Written by on December 13, 2018

Kanye West Kanye Wests again.

On Thursday afternoon, the multi-hyphenate nabbed more headlines after he tweeted a message to Bob Dylan.

It’s unclear why ‘Ye wants to meet with the Nobel Prize-winning artist; however, many suspect it has something to do with the rapper’s upcoming Yandhi album. Is Kanye attempting to secure a collaboration with Dylan? Or perhaps he just wants to pick the legend’s brain.

In a 2007 Rolling Stone cover story, Kanye admitted he was vaguely familiar with Dylan’s music, but became more interested after he was compared to the 77-year-old artist.

“Man, a couple of people have played me some tracks,” ‘Ye said about Dylan’s work. “Samantha Ronson was like, ‘Yo, certain shit that you do reminds me of this guy.’ Not only the music but the way I’ve dealt with the press. I need to get more into it.”

Kanye’s previous collaborator Paul McCartney—another living legend—also likened the rapper and folk singer in an interview with NME. The Beatle made the comparison after attending a Watch the Throne show in London.

“I was expecting it to be, ‘Oh it’s great, it’s hip-hop, it’s loud,’ but I hadn’t until then got the urban poetry aspect,” McCartney said. “Like, Bob Dylan is a poet. And so is JAY-Z and Kanye.”

This isn’t the first time Kanye has attempted to contact high-profile figures through Twitter. He previously used the platform to ask Mark Zuckerberg for $1 billion, and wrote he wanted to meet with Apple CEO Tim Cook because he “had some ideas.”

Though we can’t blame Kanye for trying, we’d honestly be surprised if he gets a response, as Dylan’s official Twitter account is seemingly run by a third-party. We’ll be sure to keep you posted.
