Kanye West’s ‘Jesus Is King’ Has Reportedly Been Delayed Again

Written by on September 30, 2019

Fans eagerly anticipated a new Kanye West album last week, and when it failed to materialize chaos ensued. Yeezy later hosted two events in which he played Jesus Is King to the public and media, but there was no indication of when the record itself was expected to arrive. Kim Kardashian later said the album would arrive on Sunday (Sept. 29), in keeping with the biblical theme, but now the second release date has rolled past with no music to be heard of.

Turns out, as TMZ reports, Jesus Is King has been delayed once again. As of right now, Ye doesn’t have a release date in mind. Sources close to the situation have said the album is finished, but he can’t stop tweaking small parts of it. There’s no word on if the delay is slight or will be indefinite, similar to the elusive Yandhi. That record missed two release dates around a similar time in 2018, and now it’s quite possibly dead.

While fans await a release date for Jesus Is King, Kanye has said he will release a documentary of the same name on Oct. 25. If that date is any indication, the album could arrive on the same day or just before. Still, there’s no telling as the tentative release for the gospel-inspired record remains a mystery.

At the Chicago Jesus Is King event, Kanye announced to the crowd that he would no longer make secular music. The record is set to feature appearances from Ty Dolla Sign and Clipse, the latter of which reunited for the first time since their indefinite hiatus.
