Ahead of their season opener, the Toronto Raptors head coach Nick Nurse hosted an evening of music at History in Toronto to help raise funding for The Nick Nurse Foundation Music Labs, a program aiming to help bring access to music to underfunded schools and communities.
Along with a red carpet and cocktails came three musical performances from Ne-Yo, the New Power Generation, CKay, and Francesco Yates.
Several Raptors players were in attendance including Chris Boucher, Juancho Hernangomez, and Scottie Barnes. The latter two apparently got into a dance battle during Kardinal Offishal’s DJ set.
In order to raise funds, the Nick Nurse Foundation auctioned off a signed Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Team Canada basketball jersey as well as a Kelly Olynyk jersey from his time on the Canadian national team.
A collection of pictures and videos were posted to the Raptors’ official Instagram page that showed the team huddled together enjoying the party, drinking, and dancing. The caption boasted about a substantial increase in team chemistry.
The Raps start the 2022-23 regular season Wednesday against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
