Kareem Hunt Reportedly Enters Counseling Following Assault Video Release

Written by on December 8, 2018

It seems Kareem Hunt is receiving professional help.

Sources tell Yahoo! Sports that the disgraced running back entered rehab this week, following a newly surfaced video in which he is seen assaulting a woman at a Cleveland hotel. Though he has since been cut from the Kansas City Chiefs, Hunt reportedly sought treatment through the NFL Players Association. Yahoo! notes that Hunt is still a dues-paying member of the NFLPA, but his former team has no obligation to help him.

A Chiefs spokesperson declined to comment when asked if the team intended to aid Hunt.

The 23-year-old athlete came under fire last week, when TMZ posted surveillance footage of the aforementioned assault. The video, which was captured Feb. 10 inside the Metropolitan at the 9, showed Hunt shoving and kicking a 19-year-old woman. Kansas City released him shortly after the clip was published.

“I’m asking for forgiveness and I definitely believe I deserve forgiveness,” Hunt told ESPN. “Everything is really happening fast right now and I just want everybody to forgive me. I know it’s going to be hard. I made a bad choice and I’m not going to let this bring me down.”

During his exclusive sit-down with ESPN‘s Lisa Salters, Hunt said he would seek counseling “to make sure nothing like this happens again.”

He is also accused of assaulting a man while visiting an Ohio resort in June, and was allegedly part of a group that attacked a man at a Kansas City nightclub in January.
