Kawhi Leonard Says He Doesn’t Know What a Raptors Championship Title Would Mean to Canada

The Toronto Raptors are on the brink of making NBA history.
The team secured a 3-1 series lead against the Golden State Warriors on Friday night, placing them just one win away from their first-ever NBA championship. Though there’s no doubt that a Game 5 victory would be huge for the Great White North, Raptors star Kawhi Leonard admits he doesn’t know what a NBA title would mean for the country. Which is pretty understandable considering the former Spurs player has only been with the franchise for one season.
“I’m really not sure. I guess you really have to ask somebody on the street or one of our fans,” he said during the post-game presser Friday. “I’m pretty sure it’s a long time waiting, they’re going to be excited. They’re already excited, just us being here for the first time. They were going crazy after the Eastern Conference Finals. I don’t know. There’s no tellin’. You gotta ask, like I said, a fan or somebody that’s been livin’ in Canada for a while. I know they’re going to be super excited. I don’t know. We’ll see.”
Classic Leonard.
Will Leonard lead Toronto to a title, or will the team blow their 3-1 lead? The Raptors and Warriors will face off in Finals Game 5 this Monday at 9 p.m. ET.
