Kaws Says This Air Jordan 1 Sample Is Fake English Sole

Written by on December 13, 2022

Images of a purported Kaws x Air Jordan 1 Low sample began floating around the web on the internet yesterday, but Brian “Kaws” Donnelly himself is questioning the authenticity of the sneakers.

Reseller English Sole shared images on Instagram of what he claimed to be a sample version of the unreleased Kaws x Air Jordan 1 Low from 2016. The photos caught the attention of Kaws this morning, which prompted the artist to say that black outlines of the signature Kaws art hands printed on the insoles is not his original design and is “most likely not authentic.”

According to Kaws, he collaborated with Jordan Brand to created four Swooshless Air Jordan 1 Low collabs in 2017 that are pictured below, and each pair was designed to match his daily uniforms. “I’ve worn and killed many pairs of them over the years (and still have many left) and they were never intended or available for sale,” Kaws said on Instagram about his Jordan 1 collab.

English Sole responded to Kaws raising issue with the Air Jordan 1 Low in question on his Instagram story by saying “We have plenty of pairs the intended collaborators didn’t know about.”

In addition to the unreleased Air Jordan 1 Lows, Kaws and Jordan Brand have collaborated on tonal grey and black Air Jordan 4s that did hit retail in 2017.
